Lendlease lodges plans for Melbourne Quarter’s third and final commercial tower
Lendlease has lodged plans for Melbourne Quarter’s third and final commercial tower, Two Melbourne Quarter, at 697 Collins Street.
With approximately 49,000sqm of total office space, the building will have an additional circa 800sqm of retail space and will cater to the demand for more flexible workplaces in the city’s Southern Cross precinct.
At 25 levels, the next-generation office tower has been designed by acclaimed architects Woods Bagot and will target a 6 star Green Star rating and a 5 star NABERS energy rating.
Melbourne Quarter is quickly taking shape with construction continuing on the precinct’s first office building, One Melbourne Quarter, and planning approval of Melbourne Quarter Tower in March this year.
Lendlease’s Managing Director for Urban Regeneration, Mark Menhinnitt, said the precinct has received strong interest to date due to its pivotal location on Collins Street and its close connectivity to Southern Cross Station.
“As we enter a new age of workplace productivity, tenants want to attract and retain the best and brightest industry talent with offices that deliver a range of workplace and wellbeing amenities including end-of-trip facilities, meeting pods, business lounges and family-friendly childcare services,” he said.
“Melbourne Quarter’s integrated commercial towers will showcase a leading architectural design set amongst the precinct’s tranquil, technology-enabled outdoor working spaces, with a strong focus on green initiatives, access to the city’s first elevated Skypark and retailers to support a better work life balance.”
Preliminary works to the precinct’s Collins Street deck being built above Wurundjeri Way have also begun. This deck will create a new public domain, including a major new public square on Collins Street and will connect the precinct’s three commercial towers.
The first stage of restoration works on the heritage-listed Flinders Street wall, located within the Melbourne Quarter site, is now also complete. The Melbourne Quarter precinct will offer approximately 130,000sqm of agile and flexible office space for more than 12,000 employees. Two Melbourne Quarter is one of seven commercial and residential buildings planned for the precinct.
