Turkey made its mark in the Brookings Institution and JP Morgan’s economically growing cities list. 4 cities from Turkey were among the cities with the fastest-growing economy. The research’s, which shows the economic success of 300 different cities, top-10 includes 4 cities from Turkey. İzmir, which took the 6th place last year and rosemore than 4 digits, drew attention with its 6.6 percent unemployment rate. İstanbul took the 3rd place in the research. Istanbul, which rose 49 digits and has 6.5 percent unemployement rate, is one of the fastest growing cities compared to last year. 4th place taken by Bursa which known as the center of the Turkish automotive industry. Bursa which was not in the list las year, has 6.4 percent unemployment rate. The capital city of Turkey, Ankara, rose 29 digits from 38th to 9th.

Joseph Barilla talked about the development which he called “Turkish Delights”. Barilla said, “Turkey, which serves as a bridge between Europe and Asia, came to the fore because of its investments in heavy industry which been made in a short time in addition to infrastructure projects, roads and job creation power” in the statement at Brookings Institution’s website.
İzmir Chamber of Commerce Chairman Ekrem Demirtaş talked about the research results as well. Demirtaş said, “Great potential of Izmir has been accepted by the world once again. The research was the best answer to those who say that İzmir is redounding or İzmir is deadlocked.”
