Airbnb, the home rental company, bought HotelTonight to find hotel rooms with discounted rates. Since, this hotel is starting the hotel-reservation business to attract a wider variety of travelers in front of the highly anticipated initial public offering.

The acquisition announced by Airbnb on Thursday, it was expanded the company’s inventory by adding a series of listings from hotels. So, it was part of a strategy to win away travelers from odds and oddities.

The offer of a one-stop travel service for more mainstream tourists puts Airbnb in competition with major travel sites such as Expedia and Priceline. Airbnb refused to meet the terms of the agreement.

HotelTonight has increased more than $ 115 million in funding, and in 2017 it was about $ 463 million.

Airbnb chief executive officer Brian Chesky called the acquisition “a big part of building an end-to-end travel platform.” Airbnb has moved continuously to new businesses outside of houses that are under threat due to regulations prohibiting short-term rents.
