The SC Index which has been generated as a joint project by AYD and Akademetre Research has been announced with the latest finding covering November 2013.
According to the periodically publicized data, compared to the same month of the previous year, the sales have increased by 10,6% and reached 146 points.
In November 2013, the sales per SCs leasable area (sqm) has occurred as 650 TL in Istanbul, 492 TL in Anatolia and reached 549 TL in Turkey generally.
The Most Significant Sales Increase in November Recorded in Hypermarket Category…
Comparing to the same month of last year, the highest sales increase has been recorded in hypermarket category in November 2013. The increase in sales index for hypermarket category was 19% in November 2013. The increase rates that have been observed in the index categories are as follows; 17% in Other* areas in located in the SCs, General 11%, Food&Beverage areas 9%, Clothing 8% Shoes&Bag 6%, Technology 5%. (*Other Category consists of shops such as; DIY, furniture, home textile, souvenir, toys, cinema, personal care and cosmetics, jewellery, hobby, petshop, tailor, shoe repair service, exchange office, dry cleaning and pharmacy.)
Foot-fall Index
Compared to November of the previous year, an increase of 6% has been recorded in foot-fall index in November 2013. Reviewing SC Index November figures, AYD Chairman Mr. Hulusi Belgü says “Our sector keeps growing and this growht is becoming more and more stable each year.Taking a look at November sales index we can see the same result. The index rose 10,4% in November comparing with the same period of last year. Some experts had warned that as the number of SCs is rising, this might result with decrease in sales index per square meters. However what we see today is there isn’t such risk. In fact we can see the increase. At the end of year 2012 sales index per square meter was recorded as 513 TL. Index per square meter on the other hand has reached 549 TL in November 2013.This means productivity is increasing. I believe in December 2013 the sales will perform an even higher increase with the impact of new year ampaigns and total sales index of the year 2013 will reach 60 billion TL.
