AXA Investment Managers – Real Assets (“AXA IM – Real Assets”), a global leader in real assets investment and the leading real estate portfolio and asset manager in Europe, announces that Jeffrey Woodard has been appointed as a Principal in the Infrastructure Equity team, effective 1st May 2017. Jeffrey Woodard’s appointment further strengthens the Infrastructure Equity team, following the appointment of Mark Gilligan as Head of Infrastructure Equity in October 2016.

Based in London, Jeffrey Woodard brings a wealth of direct experience with him and will report to Mark Gilligan, Head of Infrastructure Equity. He will be responsible for leading origination and investment execution into the OECD infrastructure equity market, initially focused on Western Europe and spanning transportation, energy, water, digital and social infrastructure.

Jeffrey Woodard has more than 15 years’ experience in the asset management sector, including the last ten in the infrastructure space, having joined AXA IM – Real Assets from UBS Asset Management, where he has worked since 2000. He held a range of roles there, most recently as Executive Director in UBS Real Estate and Private Markets Infrastructure & Private Equity team, responsible for both deal origination and execution, as well as management of existing European investments. As part of Jeffrey’s role he was a Board member of a Norwegian regulated offshore gas transmission system, as well as Alternate Director of Southern Water, a regulated UK water and sewerage company.

AXA IM – Real Assets aims to offer its clients a diversified real assets portfolio and building its infrastructure business, launched in 2013, is integral to achieving that goal, as well as being in line with its 360° approach to investing into the four key areas of direct property and infrastructure investments, and private and listed debt. In November 2016, AXA IM – Real Assets announced the new infrastructure equity team’s first direct investment into the infrastructure sector, with the acquisition, on behalf of its clients, of a 42% stake in Atlandes, the concession-holder of the A63 motorway in South-West France.

Ruulke Bagijn, Global Head of Real Assets Private Equity at AXA IM – Real Assets, commented: “The infrastructure sector is becoming increasingly attractive as an asset class, and we are excited to be able to leverage our capabilities to build a diversified portfolio of assets that will aim to deliver long-term stable income. Jeffrey’s experience and value are well-known amongst the team and his addition further ensures we are well-positioned to continue growing the business, following on from our first investment at the end of last year, and deliver on our identified pipeline of investment opportunities across a number of different sub-sectors.”
