An office tower on the way in Plano’s Legacy business park will be part of a new mixed-use development.
Cawley Partners will build the 15-story high-rise on Legacy Drive in the Campus at Legacy West development. The 300,000-square-foot speculative office project at 6333 Legacy will be constructed on part of the old J.C. Penney headquarters site.
Developer Bill Cawley, said in statement, the more than 100 acre section of the former Penney campus is being redeveloped with new construction. We are excited to bring a quality, firt in class building to the high demand Legacy market.
Designed by Dallas architects Morrison Dillworth+ Walls the Cawley Partners’ project includes a five level parking garage, a fitness center, an open-air terrace, a restaurant, a bar and conference facilities. The office tower will be built next to a planned luxury hotel by Japan’s Miyako Hotels. The 14 sotrey hotel will have 250 rooms.
Cawley added, “Because of the size and location, the office tower is likely to catch the attention of major companies looking for Plano office space. That’s what we are hoping for. We are talking to one tenant that’s about 125,000 square feet. We want to get just a little bit of preleasing before I go ahead.
Developer Sam Ware is building the Campus at Legacy West project and has converted the original Penney office buildings into space for the retailer and other businesses. NTT Data has leased a large portion of the existing building.
Ware said, “I am glad to team up with Bill and allow him to build another class AA building on the campus. 6333 Legacy will allow us to continue to attract tenants that want to be in the middle of an all-encompassing work, live, play environment.”
In addition, Avison Young is leasing the planned Cawley Partners office project. John Conger, a principal with Avison Young, said in statement, “Tenants have been drawn to the convenient amenity-rich atmosphere of The Campus at Legacy West. 6333 Legacy and the new hotel will add even more energy to the campus.
The Legacy drive office building is one of several new projects in the works for West Plano’s Legacy business park. Cawley Partners is working on another office project with 200,000 square feet on Headquarters Drive called HQ53. And other office developments in the area are being built or planned by Heady Investments, Karahan Cos. and Gaedeke Group.
