New home prices in China increased by 2.5 percent in January compared to the last month, acording to the National Bureau of Statistics(NBD).

New-home prices climbed in 38 cities, compared with 39 in December among the 70 cities tracked by the National Bureau of Statistics. They dropped in 24 cities, compared with 26 in December, and were unchanged in eight, according to a release Friday.

The southern industrial city of Shenzhen continued to be the top performer, where home prices surged 51.9 per cent in January from a year ago. Shanghai followed Shenzhen to increase 17.5 per cent, the NBS said.
