China’s new home prices increased in December for the fifth straight month , following a series of stimulus measures aimed at boosting lending, according to the the China Index Academy (CIA).

The average price of a new home in China’s 100 major cities rose 0.74% month-on-month in December to 10,980 yuan (US$1,686) per sqm, the China Index Academy (CIA) said in a report, marking a pick-up from November’s 0.46% rise.

On a year-on-year basis, prices increased 4.15%.

China’s property sector has come under pressure in the past two years as new buyers were priced out of the market while the economy falters. Home sales fell 7.8% in value in 2014.
