Malta’s new housing development plan
Housing development arrangements in Paceville continue on the island of Malta. The plan excludes the area of Radisso, Corinthia San Gorg Hotel and Marina Hotels.
There are International Hotels and Malta goverment a agreement pending approval. According to aggrement envisages 100,000sq.m of floor areas allocated for residential and commercial areas apart from a 6-star hotel and a 5-star hotel.
The North Harbour Local Plan, which is still in place determines the area occupied by three hotels as a holiday region.
Also, De Redin Tower, an important part of Malta’s history, will be renewed. “Is there a reason why the San Gorg cannot be rebuilt, from a heritage point of view, to have the De Redin tower rendered more visible and landmarked… if one had to be critical of the planning made in the past, it is the fact that these historic towers were made to be visible from the coast, because the San Gorg was in fact built around it…” De Marco asked IHI chairman Alfred Pisani.
But rebuilding the tower will cost $ 90 million. In addition, villa blocks will be built between Corinth and Radisson Hotel.
