Russia, Ukraine to sign gas deal after January 5!

Russian Gazprom and Ukrainian Naftogaz plan to sign the agreement in early days of 2014 as it is expected to lower the gas price by 33%.

Russia and Ukraine will sign the natural gas deal after meetings starting on January 5, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Yuriy Boyko said on Monday.

Russian Gazprom and Ukrainian Naftogaz plan to sign the agreement in early days of 2014 as it is expected to lower the gas price per 1000 cubic meters down to $268.5 from around $400.

Russia offered the deal two weeks after Ukraine’s assembly rejected an agreement with EU improving bilateral economical ties. Russia also bailed out $15 billion state loans to Ukraine in a bid to attract the former Soviet country into Russian-led economic union.

The decision for agreement had come out after a meeting between Ukraine’s President Victor Yanukovych and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on energy trade and bilateral economic relations.
