9% decrease in technology category proves that impacts of instalment restriction goes on…

Looking at the sales index in categories it can be seen that negative impacts of instalment restrictions in technology category still continues. Comparing to the same month of last year, sales index in technology category has recorded 9% decrease in March 2014. Sales index has increased in all other categories in March 2014.

According to that, comparing with the same period of last year the index rose by 12% in hypermarket category, 9% in clothing and shoes-bags categories, 6% in food and general categories and 3% in Other* areas located in the SCs in March 2014.

Foot-fall Index

Compared to March of the previous year, an increase of 2% has been recorded in foot-fall index in March 2014.

Looking at the results of 2014 first quarter it can be seen that foot fall index rose by 3,1% and reached 101 points in the first quarter, compared to the same period of last year.

Reviewing SC Index March 2014 figures, AYD Chairman Mr. Hulusi Belgü says “we can see increase in sales index in March 2014. SC Sales Index rose by 5,8% in March 2014 compared to the same period of last year. Taking a look at the index in categories the highest increase was recorded in hypermarket category by 12% in March 2014. However the most important point we should consider is that decrease in technology category keeps going. As a result of law on restriction of instalment number to credit cards in technology had caused 14% decrease in this category in February 2014. Technology index kept decreasing in March 2014 and comparing to the same period of last year index decreased by 9% in March 2014. These figures show us that we have to analyse and discuss the results of law on restriction of instalment number to credit cards.

When we look at the results of 2014 first quarter in sales index we can see increase in foot-fall index, sales index and sales per SCs leasable area (sqm). This shows that productivity per SCs leasable area (sqm) rose in the first quarter”.
