Reviewing SC Index January figures, AYD Chairman Mr. Hulusi Belgü says “Sales index recorded slight increase in the first month of 2014. Comparing to the same month of last year, SC sales index rose by 2,9% in January. Although we are still in winter time the weather is quite warm and there have been some negative developments in both domestic and international markets. All these affected the consumer and rise in sales index was limited. Taking a look at index data the most interesting point we see is the difference between categories. We can see that comparing to the same month of last year technology category sales index increased by 26%. The main reason for this significant rise is the law about restricition of instalment number for creadit cards. As you know law about restriction of instalment number for credit cards came into the force on February 01st consumers will no longer be able to buy electronic devices like mobile phones using credit card instalment advantages. Accordingly consumers mostly focused on buying elecetronic devices in January. In upcoming months the consumers will be in a process of developing consumption habits according to new credit card rules and current economic situation”.
