Tourist number rises by 9.95 pct in first 11 months!

The number of foreign visitors to Turkey increased by 9.95 percent in the first 11 months of this year compared with the same period last year, reaching 33.47 million, Ministry of Tourism data showed on Monday. 

The November figures indicated that the number of foreign visitors rose by 4.77 percent compared over November of the previous year, totaling 1.71 million. According to the data, 114,193 of the month’s 1.71 million visited for only one day, accounting for 6.68 percent of the total for November.

Most visitors in November entered through border gates in İstanbul, followed by Antalya, Edirne, Artvin and İzmir. However, in the first 11 months, most visitors entered, in descending order, through Antalya, İstanbul, Muğla, Edirne and Artvin.  

Comparing the entry and exit figures of this November with the same month last year, the number of entries rose by 4.63 percent, while the number exiting the country declined by 0.64 percent during the same period. Meanwhile, the number of entries in the first 11 months rose by 6.8 percent compared with same period last year, and the number of people exiting the country increased by 5.83 percent.
