Turkey's Housing Development Administration (TOKI) expands abroad

According to the report of daily newspaper Takvim, Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKI) expands abroad. Ergun Turan, President of TOKI, said that they will develop new businesses both in Turkey and the abroad. According to the project of TOKI, administration will transfer the projects, which will be undertaken in abroad, to Turkish companies.

Turan also stated that TOKI will continue to develop houses for low and middle-income citizens in Turkey.

Answering the questions of reporters, Turan expressed that Turkish construction sector has a lot of potential to do business in abroad, but there has not been a serious step in last 10 years.

“Companies turned onto the very active domestic market. But we also have to be in foreign markets. To add value to our country, expansion is essential. As TOKI, we need a structure to contribute these goals.”

In short and mid-term, TOKI wants to be a pioneer for Turkish contractors to expand in abroad, Turan said.

“We are developing a model. A system that has been used in England, USA and many other developed countries. TOKI will be a leading organization. We will gather the Turkish contractor sector under an umbrella. We will undertake a project, and then share it with the contractors in Turkey. We are also discussing this model with the companies in the sector. They also want to this model. A legal regulation is needed for this system. After completing the preparations, we will submit the project to Prime Minister.”
