The Federation of Real Estate Boards of Quebec and Fonds Immobilier have published a survey in Canada on the basis of home buying and selling. According to the survey, 50 percent of young people aged 18-24 in Monreal want to buy property in from five years.

50% of Montrealers aged 18-34 intend to buy a property within the next five years
55% would prefer to live in a city centre under certain conditions

73% obtained a mortgage the first time they applied
28% used the HBP as the main source of their down payment
21% opted for a condominium and 52% for a single-family home

According to another result of the survey, young people are affected by the business opportunities in Montreal. According to research conducted on all households in Montreal, 26 percent of the people want to buy a house in the coming years. This rate rises to 50 percent between the ages of 18-34.

According to the survey, 54 percent of young people prefer a detached house. Young buyers prefer to buy houses from new construction. 72 percent of young people between the ages of 18-24 want to get bigger than their homes. 29 percent of adults aged 18-34 want to build their own property.

11 percent of young people living in Montreal wants to invest in rent. This rate is lower for the province of Quebec. According to another result of the survey, only 6 percent of homeowners want to sell their houses next year.
