Indonesia’s former president BJ Habibie will build a new mega project in Batam worth US$1 billion which consists of 11 towers of apartments, hotel rooms ,offices and a hospital on a nine-hectare plot of land in Batam, according to the The Jakarta Post report.
Construction works in Meisterstadt will start in the middle of this year by Pollux Habibie International, Habibie’s firm.
Pollux Habibie International commissioner Ilham Akbar Habibie told thejakartapost.com in Batam on Saturday that the Meisterstadt superblock would be built in four stages.
“Initially, the plan to construct a hospital in the superblock was in the last will and testament of my mom [the late Ainun Habibie] and it will be implemented in the third stage of this superblock’s construction,” said Ilham at the project’s launch on Saturday.
Pollux Habibie International aims to sell a third of the apartments to foreigners while the rest will be marketed to local buyers.
Being just 45 minutes away from Singapore by ferry through Batam Center Ferry Terminal, the Meisterstadt is ideally positioned, placing everything that could be needed within the best proximity. The district of Batam Center is the current chapter of an extraordinary city building story for Batam.
Bordered to the north by the sea and to the south by nature’s untouched landscape, this most central of locations takes in spectacular, traditional views of Batam at its prime site in the education, commercial and services district in Batam Center. Only a five minutes drive from Batam Center Ferry Terminal, the central location of Meisterstadt is a much prized rarity in Batam City.
